Chengjiang Fossil Site
The Chengjiang Fossil Site in Yunnan Province has been included in the UNESCO World Heritage List. The fossils there provide evidence of abundant life 530 million years ago. The remarkably well-preserved fossils of a highly diverse community make Chengjiang a unique site globally.
It significantly contributes to understanding the evolution of early multicellular organisms. Discovered initially in 1984, the site continues to attract scientists from around the world for regular exploration and study.
